Dual 2.4GHz | Bluetooth Connection

Penrose and Penrose X feature a high performance dual wireless connection. Players can connect to their console or desktop over lossless, low latency 2.4GHz wireless using the included USB dongle. The onboard Bluetooth 5.0 can be paired simultaneously with 2.4GHz wireless, so players can chat from their mobile device without interrupting their gameplay experience.

Aren’t Penrose and Mobius pretty much the same?

Actually no. Other than having a common case and similar drivers and microphones, they use completely different chipsets, offer different connection methods and sampling rates, and connect to consoles differently. Both offer Bluetooth and analog connections for convenience, but these are not intended as primary use modes.

How exactly is Penrose different from Mobius?

Penrose is a Lossless, Low-Latency Wireless headset. While it does look like Mobius, it does not feature any of the 3D audio or head-tracking technology included in Mobius.
Penrose is primarily a wireless two-channel (stereo) headset that uses a USB 2.4GHz transmitter, while Mobius is primarily an eight-channel (surround) headset with built-in 3D and head-tracking that uses a wired USB connection.
Penrose was designed with consoles in mind (but also works with PCs), while Mobius was designed mainly for PC use.
If you’re looking for a true wireless gaming headset for console or PC, Penrose is the one for you!

Is Penrose Dual-Band Wireless?

No. Penrose features a Dual Wireless connection, meaning you can use it over 2.4GHz wireless and/or Bluetooth. It does not support 5GHz connection.

What’s the difference between Penrose and Penrose X?

Penrose is compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gaming consoles, as well as Windows and Macintosh systems. Penrose X is designed for Xbox, and is compatible with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as Windows systems.

Do Penrose and Penrose X support Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, Windows Sonic, Tempest, etc for 3D audio rendering?

Both versions of Penrose appear to the source device as a 2-channel USB headset, so any processing that happens upstream will be transmitted appropriately. As long as the headset is not required to do any processing of its own, any spatial audio system will work.

Does Penrose support audio over its USB-C port?

Penrose supports audio over 2.4gHz wireless, analog or Bluetooth only. The USB port is for charging, programming and firmware updates (you can charge and play at the same time).
